JOURNAL "Just let everything fall into its place and go with the flow~"

(i recommend to play the music as background music while reading :)

Bansuri (inndian muscial instrument)

Bansuri

(bamboo flute popular in Indian subcontinent.)

A bansuri is a side blown flute originating from the Indian subcontinent. The instrument is also common among other traditions such as Shaivism

A bansuri is traditionally produced from a special type of bamboo, that naturally grows to long lengths between its nodes (knots). These grow abundantly in Himalayan foothills up to about 11,000 feet with high rainfall.

The harvested bamboo with a desired diameter is cut, dried and treated with natural oils and resins to strengthen it. Once ready, the artisans examine the smoothness and straightness and measure the dried hollow tube. They mark the exact positions for the holes, then use hot metal rod skewers of different diameters to burn in the holes. Drilling and other methods of hole making are avoided as it is believed they damage the fiber orientation and the splits affects the music quality.

The wall thickness of the bansuri determines the tone, range and octave tuning. Once all the holes have reached their performance range, the bansuri is steeped in natural oils, cleaned, dried and decorated or bound with silk or nylon threads.

There are two varieties of bansuri: transverse and fipple. The fipple flute is usually played in folk music and is held at the lips like a tin whistle. Because the transverse variety enables superior control, variations and embellishments, it is preferred in Indian classical music.

EAST ASIA ARTS AND CRAFTS

 CALLIGRAPHY

Before I begin I have here a little information about Japanese calligraphy or 'shodo' also called 'shūji' is a form of calligraphy, or artistic writing, of the Japanese language. The Chinese roots of Japanese calligraphy go back to the twenty-eighth century BC. In contemporary Japan, shodo is a popular class for elementary school and junior high school students. In high school, calligraphy is one of the choices among art subjects, along with music or painting.

Anyways, I decided to put a ocean wave background design for the calligraphy to pop and it wouldn't look so dull. I chose the quote 'Jigou jitoku' 自業自得 it means "what goes around comes around" or something like 'You get what you deserve'. I'll be showing a video of me doing the process.

I made a little mistake for the calligraphy part but I just covered it with pink paint as if it's a background colour for the calligraphy phrase.

 ORIGAMI

(Butterfly Ring Origami)

Origami or Paper folding is the art of paper folding, which is often associated with Japanese culture. In modern usage, the word "origami" is used as an inclusive term for all folding practices, regardless of their culture of origin. The goal is to transform a flat square sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques. The small number of basic origami folds can be combined in a variety of ways to make intricate designs.

Anyways, I made a butterfly ring origami. It seems complicated but it's quite easy if you follow the correct way of folding it. Although i may not use this 'Butterfly Ring Origami' every day but it's kind of cute to be honest. I'll be providing a video me making it (kind of not a tutorial).

ANIME

Anime can refer either to animated works produced in Japan, or to their common visual style. It comes from the english word 'animation'. Characters are more slender and is stylized frim hairstyle, clothes, and even facial expressions.

Anyways, I made a manga version of myself. It doesn't really look like a manga like character though.. I'll be showing a video of me doing the process.

Koto (25 string) Instrument of Japan

Music of Japan is filled with tradition. The Koto (also called kin) is a Japanese plucked half-tube zither and the national instrument of Japan. There is four types of Koto (Gakuso, Chikuso, Zokuso, Tagenso) were all created by different subcultures, but also adapted to change the playing style. The ancestor of the Koto was the Chinese guzheng. It was first introduced to Japan from China in the 7th and 8th century. It came from the Chinese music traditions because it was the court music of china that influenced Japanese music.

The Koto instrument of Japan requires both of your hands, it is played by plucking the strings or alter the pitch or sound of each string by pressing or manipulating the strings. I will show you a video example of Koto, A person will be playing the instrument with a lovely spring background and will be playing it gracefully.                                          ⇩⇩⇩

I feel like I'm sitting under a Cherry blossom tree while its leaves waves through the sun. Watching the video brings peace to the mind and it calms you down.  For me i think it's a entertainment before as like to calm down people like for example from after the war, pregnant people, kids, etc. Listening/watching it makes me wanna learn the instrument.

ART PERFORMANCE BLOG

"LOI KRATHONG"

What is Loi Krathong? In Thailand, the festival is known as "Loi Krathong". The name could be translated as "to float a basket," and comes from the tradition of making Krathong or buoyant, decorated baskets, which are then floated on a river. Many Thais use the Krathong to thank the Goddess of Water.

So I decided to chose Loi Krathong the I decided to draw and color on a black color notebook to add a little twist. I sketched at first to not mess up the drawing. I have a drawing guide beside me. i showed my sketching in this video below  ⇩ ⇩

Loi Krathong [Sketch]

After sketching i took a little break, I then started to color. I used light/pastel colors so that it'll look lively on the notebook page. I spent about 2 hours making this . Video of me coloring it is shown below ⇩ ⇩

Loi Krathong [Finished output]

Although it doesn't really look the same and kind of messy, but for me i was satisfied and 'm proud of myself. I think the hardest part was the pink flower, as you can see it's smaller than the actual picture but still satisfied with the results. I really enjoyed it.

 REFLECTIVE ESSAY

THE FOOD OF PARADISE by Ibn Amjed

Introduction

The Story of The Food of Paradise by Ibn Amjed. Reading the story was interesting. The story is suitable for any age cause it has a good moral lesson. At first I didn’t understand but as you continue along the story it’s good. The where the hermit said about the story of the princess’s parents was kinda sad too.

In this blog will talk about what happened and some happenings in the story. This will also include my opinions, reaction and thoughts about this story. I would also include some photos to convince you to continue reading hehe.

Body

The Story took off with the introduction of the main character, Mullah Ibrahim, who taught the religious beliefs of Islam to his Muslim students. The work doesn't really pay-off for him, He then, questioned the goodness of the holy Allah and why a diligent servant like him shall suffered. Mullah Ibrahim left the seminary and took a journey away for the City of Baghdad where he had live all of his life. If only he could have stayed and explain what he thought and reason he would have still be one of the teacher. So he left the seminar, He stayed and fell asleep in cozy and shady spot underneath the wide tree of cypress beside a river while waiting for the bounty of Allah. The story of this have a theme Beliefs because every Muslim beliefs from their Allah.

he started to feel hungry but did not lose hope, he slept then woke up hungry. At noontime, he found a halwa at the river. He had eaten for his own good and survival. after months he got curious where it was coming from and looked for the source. So then he followed the river as his guide. On his way he saw a hermit, the hermit explained that in the castle there lived a princess. This part where the hermit explained what had happened to her parents, made me feel kinda sad for the princess. She couldn’t go out and had been lonely for years.

Mullah Ibrahim then thought about saving the princess from the castle as a ‘thank you’. That was really nice of him to think that but the ending will bring you into a shocking twist. Mullah had entered the castle and saw the princess about to throw out a package of halwa into the river. before her, the Mullah knelt and told his tale. Ibrahim told that he was grateful for the delicious food she fed him daily, that halwa she threw into the river in the morning from her verandah that he has ate.

And so the Princess explained that what he had eaten was used for her bath. Ibrahim just found himself crying because he had been blind. The food that he always received was the princess' things used during a bath. He then realize that Allah surely gives food to everyone but its quality and kind are dictated by what a man deserves. This part got me, it made me laugh and feel kinda bad to Ibrahim.

Conclusion

we must be content with what God gives us, and not lose hope and have faith to out God because when everything is at lost, He is the only one we can cling to. We can't avoid to feel sometimes that the world is unfair but we should not question our one and only creator. It is better to do good works, and just pray to God that he will guide us in every way and be more thankful than ever. And for all the things that happen in our lives always remember that God has always a purpose.

"SCHOOL CLEAN-UP DRIVE"

"SCHOOL CLEAN-UP DRIVE"

Every year we have an activity called "school clean-up drive". Each grade levels would be assigned in a specific place and clean that spot. As the Gr.7 students which was us were assigned by the comfort room and sink. My pair was Jianne we were assigned by the sink and give buckets of water for cleaning for those in need. We surely did have a good time, especially when some took a break.

While we took a break we talked and ate our snacks. After the whole activity we still have to clean our classroom which is called general cleaning although some made a mess we still had fun and enjoyed. It was quite tiring though. Then in the afternoon we ate our lunches then played games we still had to remove our shoes though cause the room might be dirty again.

Kindergarten and Elementary also cleaned as well cause it would be unfair. Cleaning is part of our daily lives so why not teach the youngsters to keep our society clean and green. The Gr.6 students swept and got loads of trashes. As the cleaner by the sink we had send water for cleaning, well... About that a lot of kids wasted it and placed water inside their gloves and said "water balloons!" but yet they were kind enough to ask permission which is good at least they informed us.

POEM FOR POETRY WRITING

“ABSTRACT”

It is something different,
But intelligent.
The art is beautiful,
Although it’s unusual.

It gives emotions,
Like affection, as if it’s a potion.
It may be random,
But it’s awesome.

It was a mistake,
But it became into a beautiful cake.
It’s colorful and powerful,
And it should be original.

It feels different,
If you’re making it.
As if your ideas came to life,
Or in general it's a masterpiece.
